After the storm: How you can plant a tree with RentMy!

Millions of trees have been uprooted by the storms battering the UK this winter – at a time when we desperately need them in the fight against climate change. That’s why our new Plant a Forest initiative sees us pledging to plant a tree for everyone who signs up!

High winds, heavy rain and flooding have been a firm fixture this winter, with Storms Dudley, Franklin, Eunice and others taking their toll across the country.

The recent storms have caused massive damage to homes and businesses– as well as toppling trees the length and breadth of the UK.

Dramatic photos show mighty oaks uprooted and massive trunks blown across roads, knocking down power lines and damaging vehicles.

And all this at a time when trees are a precious enough resource already. It’s no secret that trees are one of the best tools we have for fighting climate change.

Not only do they absorb CO2 from the atmosphere, they also prevent the spread of desertification, replenish the soil, and provide homes for wildlife. 

 

How to help with RentMy

The recent damage in the UK got us thinking - and now we’re taking action. From now, for everyone who signs up at RentMy.com, a tree will be planted!

RentMy has partnered with Treepoints – a carbon reduction platform - to have a planet positive impact with every sign up.

The projects Treepoints chooses to invest in are all verified to the highest standard, and have a positive impact on global sustainable development as well as reducing CO2 emissions.

With Treepoints, we’ll be planting trees in Haiti, Kenya, Mozambique, Nicaragua and many other countries around the world.

As well as taking CO2 out of the atmosphere, our tree planting schemes provide important socio-economic benefits for communities.

This includes creating steady employment with a fair wage, which allows people to afford to buy medicine, to build houses, to send their children to school. These projects are all managed and closely monitored on the ground by Eden Reforestation Projects.
